A Little History of Broad Ripple
Broad Ripple Village was founded in 1821 around what is now the historic Broad Ripple Canal. The canal was built in order to ease transportation in the midwest, but the developing construction of multiple railway lines quickly defeated the waterway shipping and transportation industries. The ensuing many lines running through Indianapolis helped to give the city the nickname "the crossroads of America." A town of its own since 1884, Broad Ripple was annexed by the city of Indianapolis in 1922 and has remained a unique part of the Indianapolis landscape ever since.

About Our Association
The Broad Ripple Bar & Restaurant Association's mission is to promote and support all aspects of the independently owned and operated establishments in our community. We, as business owners, are all lucky to be able to operate in one of the best and hottest parts of the city. We want to make sure we do everything in our power to make sure visitors get a opportunity to see for themselves what our Village has to offer, and residents have every opportunity to enjoy what is in their own back yard. We have found that by joining together to market and advertise the place we all love so much, we can have a greater effect on our target audience and expose a greater number of people to the great community that is Broad Ripple Village.
